Grassland :Temperate grasslands
- During the summer, temperate grass lands are hot and during the winter is cold with moderate rainfall.
- Their temperatures rise as high as 100 degrees Fahrenheit abd can drop as low as 40 degrees Fahrenheit below zero and receive an average of 10-20 inches of rainfall
- The dominant vegetation are grasses
- Some examples of species that can be found are gazelles, zebras, rhinoceros, wild horses,lions, wolves, jack rabits, etc
Deserts: Three main deserts in California
Mojave
- Extends to the state borders if of Arizona and Nevada
- Temperatures during the winter range from 90-100 degrees Fahrenheit
- During the summer, ranges from 120 degrees Fahrenheit and above
- Fall: 70 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- Extends to the state of nevada
- Has cooler temperatures due to higher elevations
- Southestern corner of California
- Rains in late summer and in the winter
- Has higher temperatures due to lower elevation
Chaparral
Coastal Southern California
- Temperatures range from 53 degrees Fahrenheit to 65
- Rainfall average 12-40 inches per year
- oaks, pines and mahoganies are found
- Animals that can be found are chipmunk, coyote, deer , fox,lizard among other species
